Just go to the Trail Creek exit, cross the tracks, and drive the 1/8th mile east to the trailhead. Enjoy.

That's the simple version. Really there is a clay mud problem at the bottom of the trail, and periodically up the trail as well. Next spring GVBC should coordinate with the Forest Service to spread gravel in those areas. All users should stay off of this trail until it dries out, probably in late June.

Even with a short riding season, Chestnut Mountain is a new favorite. It has great flow for a trail not designed for bikes. The views across the summit are 360 degree spectacular. It can be ridden as an up and back or as a loop from Trail Creek and Goose Creek Roads. The whole loop is 16 miles. Vert is about 2,400 feet. There is a spur trail to the lower end of Frog Rock for climbers. Some climbers may become mountain bikers and some mountain bikers may become climbers. Once on top of the long summit ridge, there is another real short spur leading up to the Chesnut Mountain summit.

Loop opportunities into Bear Canyon should be possible once that area opens up again to bikes and motorbikes. It will be possible to ride from Chestnut all the way to Hyalite and Cottonwood. Not the best connectivity of trails, but possible.
I don't know what trail we're on, but at least it's getting dark
