    Barbie Camp anyone? October 27 - 29

Much like flip, but for very, very different reasons, I am in need of a fun and mind-numbing road trip. I can't make the week in Moab with flip's group due to, well, basically having blown through most of my vacation time already this year, but I can spare a day and a half to go to Barbie Camp over by Bend over the weekend of October 26 - 29, weather permitting. I'm looking at taking off mid-afternoon Thursday or early Friday morning and coming back Sunday. Anybody else game? Twisted, PILTDOWN, Buddha and I had a great time last year. Have room in the Element and will travel.

Here's the official Barbie Camp link: http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=235700

(PS, if the weather for Bend looks like it will be cold and wet that weekend, I *might* be talked into making a very quick run to Moab that weekend instead. That's a big maybe - 18 hours in the car to ride for maybe 3 - 6 hours isn't my idea of efficient time allocation. Bend is only 6 hours each way, with 3 days of riding instead.)

I'm there so long as there's no cussin' or drinkin'
Nobody cares what kind of bike you ride.

    Maximizing your Moab experience...

Leave Thursday afternoon, sleep on the way, get there Friday morning... Ride all day Friday and Saturday, do Sovereign on the way home on Sunday... Hopefully Moab has gotten its quota of rain the past week!

I'd love to go, but can't due to work obligations.
Each bicycle owned exponentially increases the probability that none is working correctly.

Tempting, nothing like an anatomical correct Barbie weekend in the mud, But I have a date with a HARO MARY 29'r that weekend in Washington DC. I just had it shipped to my hotel since I am stuck in DC for 2 weeks, to keep her in my notel motel at night, and hit the fall colors on the Potomac for its virgin ride!!! ahh sleepin with a new ride, shhh dont tell the wife!
Maybe I will post up the bike porn when i get her alone in my room, and open her up for the first time.....

Flip, I think I'm with you. No takers for Barbie Camp. That, and I was thinking - ride (and camp) in the cold and wet in Oregon with strangers, or hit the red rocks in the warm sun with friends? I'm thinking the latter. Thursday noon departure, Sunday afternoon return. Hell, I drove cross country solo a few years ago - what's a 9 hour drive to Moab?

Count me in as a strong maybe!

We're camping at our favorite campsite. It's called La Quinta Inns...

Here are some ride suggestions in the DC area. Patapsco, Gambril, Rockville Creek in Rockville, Schaeffer Farms in MD. Fountainhead, Conway Robinson, Wakefield in VA. My buddy Micky in Rockville could show you around there and might be able to take a trip to Gambril - Watershed. You might also look up brizn (Brian) and drevil (Ricky) on the MORE site (http://www.more-mtb.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=2) Micky's user name on the MORE site is micky. Just tell them Dave sent you.
Have you spent much time in the DC area?
    Am I being kind?

Thanks for the tips Dave, I get to DC quite a bit for work, but typicaly it is only 3 or 4 days, this one is a 2 week stretch, hence the shipping the bike

    Happy Trails.
