Anything rideable around West Yellowstone or Big Sky?

Anything going to be rideable around that area by this weekend? I know most stuff goes up pretty high. I was looking at Red Cub Trail and it is almost all West and South facing and it doesn't go up super high either. I'm thinking it may have gotten too much snow up there this winter though. Anyone know what trails typically melt out earliest around that area?

In the past I've found South Side CDT from Targhee Pass to be driest soonest.

It's a fairly mellow bench cut trail (out and back, or point to point from Rheas Pass with shuttle) and while I suspect there may be a few wet spots I would think it's further along than anything else.

The kind folks at Free Heel and Wheel (406) 646-7744 may be able to help you out more than my keyboard speculation...

Thanks. I rode the south CDT a couple times last summer and yeah it's a great trail. I may see if Freeheel has any info on that trail condition.

Both 1st and 2nd Yellow Mule are dry to within about 2 miles of Buck Ridge, great conditions and most of the down trees were cut out. I think YC trail crew cleared the landslide switchbacks yesterday or today.
Cinnamon is most likely dry to the saddle.
Lots to do in Taylor Fork: Albino/Meadow Creek Loop, and above that to Dead Horse and Lizard Lakes Trail, lower oil well and Wapitis, lower Eldridge, lower Slide maybe all the way to Oil Well.
    Red Canyon might be good.
Lots to do in Porcupine/Twin Cabins while avoiding the trailhead and the closed trail, use the state land access to the left before the trailhead to access Grizzly Extension, Grizzly Loop, cross over to Twin Cabins saddle.
    Thats how we do it.

How about the Lionhead? Any reports from there yet? We'll be July 8-9 for the cleanup weekend.

I called Freeheel and Wheel a couple days ago and they said one of their employees was planning on riding Lionhead to see how it was shaping up. You could call them for an update.

I rode up and back down the Portal to Porcupine DH today, it's dry all the way to within 5 switchbacks from the top. Not much rain today, the riding should still be good Sunday.
