    HD 160 with a 650b on front?

Anyone have a 650b on front with 26" on rear of an HD 160? (I love my classic Mojo with this combo - the 650b is on a 2011 32 Talas 150 RLC with a 2.35 Nevegal. I'm thinking I'll have to have an HD one of these daze.)

    I'm a 650-b fan. My HD has a 180mm fork so I haven't tied the 650 yet.I think a 160 mm fork with 650-b would rip.

I wonder if the angle would get too slack with 650b on an HD ?

I asked that same question to my local shop that sells the HD. They did not recommend it do to the geometry changes. After ridding a Pivot 429 for a year I think the 650b is a great idea on the HD. I will be building up an HD early next year. I thought I would never go back to a 26" FS bike, but the HD rides like no other 26" bike. It's freaking unreal!!

So just to clarify, you're going with HD 160 & you ARE going to put 650b on front? (If so, go with adjustable travel fork for technical climbing - on my classic Mojo with 650b I currently run 2011 32 Talas 150 - dropping to 120 for steep or slow technical climbs is huge plus.)

Yes. If I go with a 650b or a 26" I will still run the adjustable 2011 Fox Fit 36 Talas 160 with the kashima coating. I do a lot of climbing. Set at 120mm for the long climb then back to 160mm for the decend. I have not heard of anyone running a 650b up front, but after ridding a 29er for the last year it just makes sense. I do like the look of the Crank Bro Iodine wheelset on the HD. The HD I tested had them and it looked sick. Let me know if you go with the 650b and how you like it. I will not be building up mine until early 2011.

HD with 650b front, 26 rear

still wondering about this - I will be building a small HD-160 this Spring with Talas 160/36. I really like my Mojo (4.3 years old now - over 3000 hours saddle time) with ZTR 355 650b front (Talas 150/32) w/26" rear and won't go back to 26" front on that bike- I've ridden lots of different stuff for nearly a year this way, from National Trail to Tahoe, etc., and it's great. Just with the new geometry and another centimeter of travel on HD I dunno if I should go 650b front !
btw, in case anyone is interested, the only parts I haven't replaced on Mojo are the XTR cranks, Formula brakes, and XTR shifters..

Just put a Maxxis Ardent 2.4 or Advantage, or conti rubber queen 2.4 on the front. You wont be far off from 650b.

a few thoughts.. First off contact derby on here.. He had done a good amount of testing with 650B and ibis configurations..

2nd.. If your worried about the 650b messing up the angles-- why not just add one to the rear too.. Then the bike is balanced and you can rip over your rocks and roots that much better.. I have thought about going 650b.. Im going to ride my 26'r for a while and see how it goes.. Maybe next wheel build ill just throw some 650's on there for fun..

rshalit, I'm with you 100%. Nevegal 2.35 650b on the mojo with a 150mm fork is awesome. I'm running a 140 revelation now, and actually miss the confidence boost in handling with the 150... I just wish RS latest version of the Revelation had more tire clearance.
I'll bet that an HD 160 with 650b front would be stellar... there's plenty of people raving about their 170mm Lyriks on their HD's and a 160 Fox w/ 650b would have about the same effect on head angle, with all the big wheel benefits to boot. Personally HD140 w/ 650b front and rear is my dream setup....but I love my std Mojo 76er, and it loves me back
On a side note, I've been bugging notubes about Flow 650b's, and it sounds like they've been pushed back again.... I was holding my breath for January, but that's not going to happen apparently... last reply was something like "hopefully in the Spring".
