Adhesive for Ripmo/Ripley chain stay protector?

New Ripmo and the chain stay protector was not installed correctly with an area lifting due to lack of adhesive. Has anyone used a “carbon safe” adhesive for this? No reply yet from Ibis and I want to get this thing built and on the trail.

Permatex 81850 Black Super Weatherstrip Adhesive is what Ibis had recommended to me via email.

For me, both the foam chain & seat stay protectors peeled off my ripley 4 within a few weeks. I contacted Ibis via email to ask for replacements as the peeled ones had attracted all kids of grime on the adhesive side. I was hoping to put on a clean new one. Ibis responded as below:

" . . We don't have any replacements for those, but we hope to at some point. The best thing to do now is get some weatherstrip adhesive and reattach it. Super quick job. Something like this.

Thanks Nebbiolo, just the info I was looking for! So did Ibis ever send you a replacement?

Yes, after I called & explained the issue, they sent me new ones. On the call they did not mention anything about not having them available.

I ended up never trying the permatex adhesive solution becuase the original protectors started to disintegrate when I tried to remove the grit from the residual adhesive. Glad they sent me the new ones as just applied those (after some isopropyl prep) &, thus far, they've stayed in place.

Yes, there was a paper backing to peel off & the protectors had adhesive on them.

I Was contemplating using the permatex stuff to try to ensure they'd remain in palce for the long haul but ended up just doing the peel & stick. they've been good thus far.
