    -= Disc brake setup =-

I have a set of Avid Juicy 5's on my X6 (they came with a set of Mavic's I got off ebay) and they are awesome as my entry into hydraulic brakes. My question is as far as brake rotor upgrade, can I increase to a 185mm rotor on the front (currently 140mm)? If so are there adaptors needed? Can the forks accomodate? And the reason being is to prevent the front brake from locking up and providing better control on steep downhill/declines. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

You really don't want to go with a rotor that large on that fork, especially since it has a QR. There's just too much stress that will be placed on that area with such large rotors. 160mm is about the biggest you'd want to use.
