By the way, have any of you upgraded your front suspension and want to off your adjustable/lockout fork?
I'm not looking to put a $300 fork on my $300 bike. Let me know.

here is my 2013 aggressor 3.0.... got it from my step grandfather... he got hit by a car, broke his ribs. he is taking blood thinners along with other health issues, so he decided it was time to stop riding. he ended up giving me the bike.... turned out the damage wasnt that bad....rebuilt the rear hub and replaced the front derailleur cable... rest was cleaning and realigning a few things....has some scuffs and scrapes, but good as new otherwise

Thanks. Here are pictures of ten others in my fleet. I own many of the same bike, like I have 3 RTSs, 3 LTSs, Zaskars, Speed series BMX frames and it's just because if one breaks, I'm not completely heartbroken. GT for 2018 has some gorgeous bikes that, as confirmed by GT, are not all yet fully uploaded onto their GT website (USA version) yet. But boy, I'd love to race XC on the 9r Helion and do BMX on one of their Speed Series class bikes!

Looking for a Medium Scott Scale frame, preferably a 2012 in 26.

    My baby

I bought this bike new in 1999. It has spent many years in storage, off and on, since it was purchased. I started riding again in July this year after 1.5 years off, and was on the fence on whether to get a new 29" hardtail, or put some $ in this bike and fix it up. I opted to fix it up, since I really like the frame. I think it was a good decision, because if I ever go 29, I am definitely keeping this 26. I'm pretty proud of the results, so I am showing it off.

    Post your GT here!!!-gt-black-wheels.jpg

    Here's the overall build:

1999 26" GT Rebound (aluminum frame)
    Rockshox Recon fork
Race Face crank set (single 32t)
    Forte carbon seat post
    Forte saddle
    Forte platform pedals
    Forte V-brakes
    Forte TerraMax wheels
Original Shimano 8-speed derailleur and cassette
    Original chain (somehow)

Ive got all the original stuff. This is for my buddys kid, so, I think it suits him.

When I find an old Avalanche, Pantera, or Ricochet, (all previous bikes of mine), then, Ill spend the time and money putting them back to 92-95 standards.

    Still looking!!

The fork and stem are original, built in May 1998. I'm the original (and current!) owner. The shop had a wall of them and I stared at them for months when I'd visit until I was able to buy it. Ouch...1671.99, but it rides smooth to this day. There were 2 versions of this bike in the model year. Check it

The twins are ready! Just got the forks back from being rebuilt and put them on last night. Picked them both up in So Cal about a year apart......$20 for the one w/o stickers, $50 for the other.
Shocks were rebuilt by Risse Racing in OR....$190 for parts, labor and shipping for the pair.

Just last year I put my LTS -1 together for my 12 year old to ride...I remember buying the frame brand new while working in Las Vegas for $1100...in 1998-ish. Round it a ton then setting up for my wife when I bought my Santa Cruz Bullitt.
I'm glad I held onto it as it was such a cool bike with the Titanium linkage. Just need to find somewhere to rebuild the Rockshok rear shock.

Thank you for the pic! That's a beautiful frame you have there
In a near feature I would sand it till restored, put in some new decals and if there was intention of keeping it period correct, maybe a Judy SL/XC, they are much more common than a Judy DH. Envy!!

I hope he enjoys that true peace of engineering and mtb history

Thanks!! And she does enjoy it.. and then it will get handed down to my son.
I still remember when I bought it brand new then building it up and riding it for the first time thinking of what a game changer this bike was. Anytime I let a friend ride they had the same thought.
Definitely would like to restore it at some point.

    Zaskar or LTS?

    Hi all,

I bought this 1990s GT as a project a few years back, does anyone know the model?
I'm not sure if it's a Zaskar or an LTS, or something different?
Any help is appreciated!Post your GT here!!!-tandem-1.jpg

Yeah um...pretty sure thats not a GT.
The rear suspension is slightly like a low end LTS, but it's not. GT LTS' had the rear shock mounted to the rear stay linkage, not to the to of the seat tube. Plus the cable routing is all wrong. And its nothing like the other old GT suspension frame the RTS.
SO it's something, just not a GT.

    Hi Mike,
You're right - I couldn't find any GT's with a similar linkage for the suspension, however I've had a really good look over the bike and to me it does seem legit... (I may be wrong)
I've added some more images below, there's also a frame number, not sure if this is traceable?
The serial number is YM9801211Post your GT here!!!-img_2395.jpgPost your GT here!!!-tandem-13.jpgPost your GT here!!!-tandem-7.jpgPost your GT here!!!-tandem-2.jpgPost your GT here!!!-imag1432.jpg

That bike has linkage very close to a Specialized S Works FSR from 1995 and agree, that is definitely not a GT LTS. The lack of a chainstay pivot near the rear wheel is also why this bike is less likely a GT.

Yeah agree, look more like the Specialized ground control fsr design, than anything from GT, so I'd say look at stuff that copied the Specialised design

I don't think it is a Specialized as there's no Horst link at the rear axle.

Could be a prototype GT. Wasn't there at one point also a AMP-styled (strut) GT suspension frame?

It's closer to a 1995 Specialized S Works FSR than it is a GT LTS prototype. It cannot be a GT LTS prototype at all because:
#1. It is not GT's protocol to not assign prototypes and factory racing equipment.
#2. The serial number does not match the convention of GT serial numbers and also there would have been a two digit number nearby to designate the size of the frame.

"AMP-styled?" Yeah, that'd be the GT LTS because Leitner licensed the Horst-link technology and later sold the patents rights to Specialized Bicycles which is the design foundation of their FSR full-suspension mountain bikes.

I own some GT prototypes and retired factory racing frames and it's 100% not a prototype.

^Agree it' "more like" a specialised, not saying it is.
and as pointed out the serial number any GT serial number, letters are made in Tawain, a prototype wouldn't have been made in Tawain, it would have been made in house in US, so it wouldn't be a prototype.

There was a amp style bike, it was in MBA in like 1992, but then we got the RTS instead as a production model

It's a strange one, I might be able to trace it back to it's original owner, who bought it new, (brother of a friend). The thing that puzzles me is that they are decent components, and have obviously been on their either from new or for a long time. Would it make sense to invest in a copy/fake?
Do you think it's worth posting on the Specialized forum and seeing if anyone recognises it there?

probably better posting in the vintage/retro/classic section, as I'm pretty sure it not a specialized, just the same/similar design as their old mid 90's bike

I'm with mik_git on this one - you'd have better luck getting a response from a vintage/retro forum and I'd like to think most Spesh folks aren't the well versed historians as us GT nuts save Ned Overend.

    GT Zaskar update

I may actually ride this bike some this season. The original Time pedals are long gone. I have Origin8 Ultim8 Trapp pedals on a couple of bikes and really like them. Maybe I'll try them on the Zaskar and see how that goes. Have a good day folks!

Stumbled onto a nice craigslist find last Friday.

Super clean 93 Karakoram with "Blacklight" paint job. The owner was a really nice guy and he actually dropped it past my workplace making it an easy purchase. In the pics I could see there was some kind of gel cover over the seat so I figured the actual seat was torn up but that was not the case and it had a nice WTB Rocket V saddle in excellent shape! I had a set of XTR canti's w/Kool-stop pads so I went ahead and swapped out the LX brakes for those. The bike has new Kenda Stick-E Nevegals with folding beads (1.95 rear and 2.10 front). and overall is in great mechanical condition.

After buying a Schwinn High Sierra back in 85, my first real performance mtb was in 87 with a new black crackle painted Karakoram. Put lots of mile on that bike and also have had an some epic wrecks where the bike always fared better than me. I have since had a couple of avalanches, a couple of Zaskars, an LTS-1, and even a Tachyon. Its been years though since I have owned or ridden a GT last so this was a great find for me personally. Just looking at the bike on the stand brings back great memories and even though I haven't had it out with the weather issues, I know exactly what to expect and can't wait!

Older GT Pantera 7005 and GT Timberline Project Bikes

Was looking for a GT BMX but instead found this blue Pantera with some random parts. The forks were busted so they're gone. Then I found the white timberline at first just for the fork but its in way better condition So I've got two projects. All original dirt, grease, and rust included.
