    Trailforks Use on Garmin 1030

Does anybody know how to use Trailforks on a Garmin 1030 WITHOUT following a chosen route? To just have it show you the trail network you're on, like your phone does with Trailforks?

This is driving my wife nuts -- she doesn't want to keep being told that she is "off course" for a route she has no interest in.

TIA tech folks (happy to help you with your suspension settings when you need it)!

Don't rely on any apps for this.

Get yoself a map (in Garmin format) of the trail network, load it onto the GPS (as a basemap), and view your position on top of an overlay of the trail network (maybe on top of some contour lines & a road network to show elevation change and other useful things).

Trailforks offers this as a download (at the state level, IIRC), but there are other sources, too. I get my maps from gpsfiledepot.com and have for many years now.

You can do a planned route on top of this (turning off all the notifications) to show something you wish to ride, and with the underlying extra basemap, you'll see a lot of the intersections and offshoots.

Tell your wife to turn off auto rerouting, problem solved.

    Thanks!

And one more wife question: Is "auto rerouting" a TF setting, or on the Garmin unit itself?

No problem. “Recalculation” is part of the Garmin’s navigation settings, turn that off. I turn off the following typically:
    Recalculation
    lock on road
    Popularity routing
