Most basic tracking app? (Android) no bloat

    Hi,
Can someone recommend the most "lightweight" GPS tracking app for my Android phone?
I just want to turn it on in the parking lot and have it track my route.

    thanks!

what do you mean by bloat?

Have you used ANY tracking apps on your phone yet? It's not like you can't try one out and then delete it if you don't like it.

Read some existing threads in here on the subject and you'll see some pretty consistent recommendations.

    Hi,
By no bloat, I mean I don't want social media options, no login, easy on the gpu, etc.
    Just simple tracking.
    I'll read the threads.

Everything will, at minimum, require a login for cloud storage of your ride. That's pretty much standard.

If you don't want any of that, then you might as well buy a basic GPS computer that allows you to download to your computer and not require any online accounts anywhere. But even then that's not exactly true, since you'll need some kind of connection so you can check for firmware updates.

Couple years back I used a GPS logger that was just that, super light and simple. Unfortunately I don't recall the name, I also used OruxMaps, but it's substantially more complex.
But search the Play Store for a GPS logger/tracker, I'm sure you will find one that you like.

Map my ride works pretty well. You will have to set up account. But you dont have to login each time or share anything.

RWGPS is great. Once you install the app and set up your free account, just click on GO RIDE and when done save it.
Where I rude in Massachusetts most trails are shown on the screen so you can see where you are if on unfamiliar trails.

^^^ With the RWGPS app you can choose among a number of maps. The OSM Cycle map usually has the best depiction of trails in the areas I ride.
    What, me worry?
