    Micro USB Rechargeable AA Batteries

Just ordered a Garmin eTrex 32x for bikepacking.

Anyone using Micro USB rechargeable batteries like these?

    https://www.amazon.com/Rechargeable-...%2C190&sr=1-13

Seems like a good idea, as they can be charged on the road/trail from a power bank.

Those look almost too good to be true.

Lithium ion have a typical MTBF of 300-500 cycles, not 1000 like listed.
They are only 1500mAh where an NiMH Eneloop is 2000mAh and an eneloop is rated for 1000 cycles
"without the typical Lead Acid memory effects" Lead Acid doesn't exhibit a memory effect, only early NiCad's did.

So there seem to be a few technical issues, maybe just with this brand as I see Amazon lists many other similar.

Looks like typical Chiner shitty advertising to me.

I also use Sanyo Eneloops for my handheld GPS (and other things) with a high quality charger. Top notch batteries.

A Li ion cell has a voltage of 3.7V and these units are 1.5V.
New kind of Li ion or just NiMh ?
(a fully charged Nimh is about 1.5V)
The specs (1.5V 1500mAh suggest it is a smaller Nimh cell with build in charger.
Not worth the money and with only 1500mAh you won't get the advertized 28h of running time.

I've been using the Etrex 30 since 2013 and I've used the Eneloops with great result.
Did a test once, my Etrex did 28h out in the freezing cold on one pair of Eneloops (backlight OFF)

My advice, get a pair of Eneloops (or simular Nimhs) and a good charger.
For longer trips (two days or more), take an extra pair.

I'll bet you're correct about this.
