Lol, my favorite way to search here is via Google just add mtbr to your search, and it works like a charm.

I don't like searching on the site.

I also think the site's search functionality is crap. There IS now a built-in Google search bar but it's close to the forum's native one so easy to pick the wrong one.

Really all you've gotta do is go to the GPS forum (conveniently it's one forum below this one in the category list) and browse the first few pages. You should have more to keep you busy than you know what to do with because that's a fairly slow forum, and going just a few pages back will give you possibly more than a year's worth of discussions.

Some of the people on this forum drive me nuts as they will take the time to reply yet tell you to search another section of the forum rather than answer your question. The search engine on MTBR is horrible and if you went to the link mentioned above it would take you forever. Bottom line is I like Strava. I have a Wahoo Elemnt which automatically uploads my data to Strava. Strava allows you to compare your performance to others on the same trail including those that rode the trail the same day, as well as breaking it down for the year, age group, and all time. You can compare your data to friends and follow them as well. I think it is great and sense there is nothing really comparable. Good or bad it makes you competitive with yourself such that now, I am always trying to beat my personal record on a trail. It can make you a bit OCD for sure.
