Where to mount front derailleur on an 02 AC2

I am hoping someone can answer this question. I got an 02 AC2 frame recently and can't figure out where to mount the clamp on derailleur. There is a weird knob near the bottom of the seat tube that a bolt goes into, but I don't know why it is there (it is part of the frame). I have tried an e-type derailleur but there is no place to mount it. Please help me figure this out. Thanks in advance.

Once again, top pull traditional style only.

I imagine that you are a younger rider if not familiar with top pull top swing traditional derailleurs. Mandatory on this rig...

    Can you elaborate?

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I am not familiar with this type of derailleur. Do they make traditional top pulls anymore or will I have to go digging for it? What is the clamp size? Thanks in advance.

LX, XT, and XTR are new for 04.

The new ones are really versitile, will accomodate all three seatube dimensions, and are top or bottom swing. Any dealer should be able to procure one for you. PM me if you have any problems, I can get you one easily. These are becoming common again due to the sheer variety of dual suss designs. Good luck, you are going to love your AC!

    Thanks, I'll look into it.

BTW, your AC looks really thoughtfully built. If I have a problem finding one of these derailleurs, I will ask for your help.

Sorry to keep asking questions, but...

How do you get 6+ " in the rear? Different rockers? Longer stroke? Do tell. Never thought I'd see a sub 30lbs AC, nice work. What wheelset would you recommend? I ride aggressively & do not pay attention to weight. Was going to build up some wheels but am conflicted about whether or not to reuse the RhynoLites that I have sitting around. Thanks in advance.

The 03' rockers are two position, 5.3 and 6.3. The 04's..

Are 5.3 (I believe) and 6.6"! No lie! You can retrofit the rockers, but unfortunately, they are not available aftermarket/oem upgrade yet. There is a british company that manufactured some 7" arms, and the guy who does the 4.5 00'-03' NRS arms was supposedly working on some AC stuff, but I don't know the details. Basically, to get 6.3" or 6.6", you would need to find a newer frame...

    Thanks for the link.

    Hey slow,

Are you in SoCal? I think I recognize your handle. Looks like we're building up the same bike at the same time. Mine came with a Romic & I'm waiting for the bushings for the eyelets. Good luck with your build.

    SoCal?

Nope, almost the furthest place from SoCal actually... Chicago.

I'm hoping mine will be done this weekend... finally got all the parts together.

Good luck with yours as well!
