    VT cable/hose runs

I've just built up a new VT1 frame and am having problems with the rear derailleur cable and rear brake hose bowing out and catching my calves. Anyone got a decent fix (other than a ziptie)? They seem close to the right length, but due to the sag they then bend out.

Also, I'm finding the BB very low so I catch the pedals all the time.
Other than those minor things I really like it!

    ziptie is the giant solution

You put a zip tie on the hosing near the bottom just as it touchs the swinger arm. Walk into a giant dealer and take a look on any vt.

Another way I have seen the cables/hoses restrained is to use a long zip tie and go around both cables/hoses and the downtube that the shock mounts to. I have not bothered with restraining the cables/hoses- found out after a couple of weeks that I have just ignored the cables/hoses rubbing my legs and do not notice them anymore.

    Re: Cabling

I just re-cabled a VT1 2003 tonight with the same problem. I found that insuring the cable housing is not too long helps with the outward curl. This wil also insure smother shifting to the rear derailer. You need to insure that the housing flows as naturly as possible in an S shape without causing the ferules (spelling?) to point up or down. Once completed the bothersome cable into the leg issue was gone. At most, all I have to do now is possibly do something to prevent cable rub on the frame. One of the more senior bike techs at my shop walked me through this

    Cheers!
