    Is this a Reign 05 or 06?

    Hi there,
I picked up this frame and was wondering whether it was a Reign 1 05 model or 06 model. And what is this shock supposed to be like for stiction as it feels pretty bad when pressing it down manually, however I know it will be a lot different on the trail.
Also what are the differences between the 05' frame and shock and the 06' frame and shock? I heard there is quite a big one.
Also how does the swinger work, what does the bottom air chamber do? It not negative air is it?
Where is the answer/manitou website, under hayes anywhere?
Well thanks for any suggestions that you may have!

The bottom air chamber (red cap) is for the SPV.

You can find the manual at http://www.answerproducts.com/

Well thats annoying, I got told it was an 06' reign when I bought it. Hard to mistake seeing as the 06' reign would have come out in late 05', not the other way round.
Anyway then what is the difference between the 05' and 06' model?
Also thanks for the info on SPV

the difference between the 05 and the 06 reign is ther front triangle.. the 06 has a smaller triangle due to the new shock basket design.

It may well be an 06......

Depending on where you are and where you got it from it may still be an 06. Here in Australia that was still on 06 frame, as we didn't get the pierced downtube until this/last year 07.

The swinger is good and reliable, but can take some time to find the sweet spot for you riding style. Try it, and then get a float.

Ok well i'm in nz so it probably is 06'. I was just wondering whether I was ripped off but it sounds like there is hardly any difference anyway!

No, its an 06. the Black colour frame was not available with the first run of Reigns to hit AUS / NZ. They made the second run and were available from jan 06.

The difference was that the US got the first run frames that had inferior bearings and the headtube-downtube junction was slighly different in apperance. When AUS got their frames, Giant had already picked up on the bearing issue [so i was told]

The one I've got a photo of is black... not blue.
I don't really mind as it seems the only major difference was bearings which feel sweet.
    Thanks.
