Help!! I need to upgrade my AC-2!!!

Hi all. I have a 2001 Giant XTC AC-2. My fork is blown and my rear shock is on its way out.

I'm looking for suggestions on forks and shocks.

    Up front I was thinking about a Marzocchi Z1 FR w/ QR20.
For the rear shock I was thinking either Fox, Romic or Progressive. Thoughts?

I love long climbs. I love technical freeride decents. I'm 5'10" and weigh 165 pounds.

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Good job! Suggestions for your AC2

I have been running a Romic on my 02 AC1 for about a year now, and I love the way it performs. I would go with Romic because they will valve the shock for your ridding style, and prep it to work with your weight. I ride pretty hard, and I weigh quite a bit more than you and I have not had problems with the Romic. I love the ease of adjustments on the Romic and the anti bob compression does work pretty well. As for the fork, I don't think that you can go wrong with the tried and true Marzocchi Z1 QR20. I am a loyal zocchi user. I think the Manitous feel nice and seem like good forks, but I trust my zocchis. You can get a good deal on slightly used ones on MTBR classifieds or on Ebay.

Good luck!! You'll love the upgrades!!

    Suggestions

For the rear: Romic, 5th Element or Swinger Coil. For me the best bet will be the Swinger based on your love on climbing.

For the front: Zocchi Z1 is an excellent choice but a bit heavy.

Yo DD, almost there with the AC. Will place the order on Friday. What you suggested is almost my build. I have an 03 Z1 FR that I wanna use on the AC. Also saw a Diabolus stem and bar combo at Pricepoint that I will use on the AC build.
