    Anthem X 29 to a 27.5 Anthem or Trance

Has anyone made the transition from the big wheeled Anthem to one of the 27.5 offerings from Giant, Trance or Anthem? I like the 29r roll over and speed but would like more travel and sharper handling. On paper the new Anthem 27.5's have appealing geometry, top tube length, stand-over, chain stay length and the increased travel (130/110mm). The new Trance 2/3 are also very nice bikes.

I ride an Anthem 29er, and I haven't transitioned to anything 27.5 but I've demo'd plenty of them, including the Trance. I'm a fan of 29" wheels, and cannot get past the rolling speed on shallow downhills myself. While the 27.5 bikes aren't terrible, they require more energy to descend the same trails as quickly when you have roots and rocks on them. As such, my search for a new bike has carried me away from Giant, because another Anthem 29er is not in the cards for me. I'm currently looking at a Guerrilla Gravity Smash.

Thanks for your feedback. Although Giant made geometry improvements to the new model I am not a fan of the 2018 Anthem X 29r with the 100/90mm suspension, not to mention it is not in my budget.

I had the anthem x29 and transitioned to the anthem 1 27.5 2014 vintage. The 27.5 definitely more nimble and fun on technical descents. But on high speed stuff I was much faster on the x29.the bigger wheels plowed thru everything and felt more stable at high speed. If I was still racing Id be on the 29r but I have more fun on the 27.5. The newer 27.5 anthem has more relaxed geometry and travel so might be more stable at speed. Find a giant demo day if u can and shake them down.
