anthem SX with a 140 fork?

Currently running the 130mm pike that came on my anthem advanced SX. Thinking about extending it to 140mm, since it appears fairly easy on the pike. Has anyone done this? how does it feel in comparison? Worth the effort?

I was also thinking about this the other day. I can't imagine it would change the ride that much, my biggest concern is how it affects warranty.

No problem, just revert back to 130mm travel before sending in the remains of the frame for "warranty"

am I missing something here? Why would adding 10mm of travel cause the frame to self destruct? lol

Its simple physics. The longer fork due to 10mm more travel induces an aperiodic vibration which itself triggers a chain reaction that completely destroys frame and rider

Seriously. Adding 10mm will make no difference. This isn't 2002 where people were adding dual-crowns to XC bikes. A modern Giant frame is made to take some abuse.

if it makes "no difference" why do it in the first place?

The Anthem frame is built with little to no safety margin for such ambitious endeavours (and nicknamed "the rolling coffin" for good reason)

Yes, 10mm sounds small but that small increase could lead to total desaster. Don't turn yourself into a ghost for some more travel (think of your wife and kids)

Does anyone know if the Pike that came on this can be bumped up to 140? Simple air cartridge switch maybe?

It can on the advance for sure... and the photo is from an older anthem I believe. Frame was redesigned for 2017

I got it done with my fork service over the winter...so far I have a handful of rides on the fork, and it's great, no regrets...really helped dampen the small chatter

The only downside I can think of is climbing STEEP stuff, the front end is a bit light now, so you really need to move more weight forward to keep the front end planted ....for reference, I am running a 50mm stem.

if you're thinking about it, do it!
