    2018 giant Fathom 1 vs 2019 Fathom 1

2019 Fathom 1 in Canada, they told me next week Large size should arrived & limited shipment also.. so can order now to get 1 on 1st shipment... so iím wondering is 2019 worth getting over 2018 model? I know as wider tires but besides that.. crank changed in 2019 also.. no idea if better crank or less good then SLX thatís on 2018.. i found a 2018 Large size and can get good deal on it.. was just curious if 2019 worth more getting because of wider tires? But few parts changed also in 2019
    Thanks

I would get the 2019 for the 30mm inner width wheels alone. I own the 2017 Fathom and it's great but if I were buying another hardtail it would probably be 29er or 27.5+. There's no question, I'd pick the 2019 over the 2018.

I'm curious what others think of the component changes. I've got the 2018 and I haven't found anything to complain about... yet. The wider rims/tires are appealing, but if you can get a good deal on the 2018 I don't think the rim difference would hold me back.

29er will be faster than 27.5+ on the road and dirt paths. I wouldn't choose a mtb based on road performance though.

I understand that.. bit if i do 50% road with kids.. and 50% trails.. thatís why was curious if big difference or not.. also in trails for technical ish stuff.. never had 29er before.. iím still debating haha

2018 was 15% off msrp.. but i found a shop willing to do 10% of msrp for 2019! All stores around donít wanna deal on 2019 model... So iím going 2019 for the price.. now debating go 27.5+ or 29er..

The Fathom 29er has a shorter travel fork and steeper head tube angle (69* vs 67* on the 27.5+). It's more "XC" than the 27.5. That's fine depending on what you're after but I'd much prefer the 27.5+ for trail riding.

I'm waiting on the fathom 1 2019 myself.
Saving up and riding my talon in the meantime. I've ridden enough to want a better spec bike.
