    2018 Anthem Sizing

Hello all, a question on sizing on the 2018 Anthem 2 (27.5).

Giant's chart says a size Small fits 5'7" - 5'9" with a 23" top tube and a 50mm stem. That height range seems pretty tall for that size frame. My 2010 Reign 2 Medium has a 23.1 top tube with a 70mm stem.

I am 5'8", should I go small or medium? I am thinking a medium (23.8" TT) with a 50mm stem would actually be closer to my current bike.

Are giant's charts off a bit in recommended rider height?

    Chris

I'd try to at least throw a leg over one and decide that way. Otherwise I'd base sizing off of reach, stack, and seat tube angle. Top tube length doesn't tell you enough.

I am shopping for a 2018 anthem 2 in small for a 5'2" girl, and the Giant chart of small being 5'7" is so off! Of course it's just a guideline. The reach is 416mm which is 8mm longer than their women's small Embolden 27.5. Other bikes in small on our shopping list are the Tallboy which has reach of 405 in small. She fit the Embolden and Tallboy very nicely with 50mm stems although the bars were too wide. But for a quick street spin a 5'2" girl felt good on both. A 5'8" rider would be waaaaay too big on a small 2018 Anthem 2.

I'm 5'10" and the Large 2018 A2 has reach of 452 which would be near perfect. My django has reach about 460. The medium, which Giant's chart says I'd ride, has a reach of 435. That about the same as my old Turner Czar, and I had to run a long stem to make it work. A trail bike usually has 50 or 60mm stem. Giant would require me to run a 80 or 90mm stem with wide bar to get a reach I like.

    Weird sizing for sure

And what's with only a 2" variance! I'm ~5'-6.5" and had a small 2014 Anthem and I think the height spread was greater. Have to chk the archive for that year. The size they're calling out now seems more like a med(I had a med Santa Cruz Superlight 27.5 before the Anthem). I thru a leg over a medium Advanced demo bike today in lbs with just flat thin sole shoes. Standover be good with Mtb shoes. The reach fit felt ok. No pedals on but It looked like enough room to lower the dropper post down for leg fit. It does look abit long tho. Might take it out for a spin tomorrow weather permitting.

What did you end up doing!
Wait whuuut, who did he tell you that!?!?....

Update Bump! After hitting my lbs who is a Giant Concept store(and tap room too) so after an adult beverage I jumped on both med Trance and Anthem 2's for a test ride and actually was surprised the the A fits! Not sure if they altered the frame since riding my small '14 but I really like the new frame ciCloud setup especially with the 110/130 setup over the earlier 100/100 XC setup. So much so I put down a deposit on it to hold til I sell my Ripley. I'd say at your hieght(I'm 5'-6 1/2") get the med for sure.

Ok. So the OP has apparently gone AWOL. Who's ridden both the earlier 100/100 Anthems and also the latest 110/130 travel versions?
