    2018 anthem sizing?

Giant has gotten stupid long for 2017/2018
I'm 5'9 without shoes and have always opted for large frames conidering my long inseam which has my seatpost far out of the frames.

Giant size chart lists the anthem medium size between 5'9 and 5'11 and I tried a large in the shop but I had to slam my saddle as far forward as the rails would allow. I also have a bad lower back with disc issues and I was curious what sizes people were on?

Im opposite of you. Im just under 60 with long torso, short inseam and am riding a large. Dropper is as low as it can go but the reach is perfect.

I'm 5'11" and just ordered a medium but swapping the stock stem to a 90mm and the bars to flat instead of the risers. I test rode this exact set up for about a 2 hour ride and felt very comfortable on it. I've had low back issues too due to getting slammed around and crashing a lot as a competitive mogul skier when I was younger. I thin this fit issue you mention is not just a Giant thing, it's probably going to be every manufacturer as they are all going to the longer cockpit/shorter rear end geometry.

Cool. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one confused by these new sizes. I'm worried about exposed seatpost but I might have to swap it out for a longer dropper.

I am 5'7" and on the 3 bikes I ride have a small, medium and a large.

My SC Highball is medium and 23" top tube. Fits well with a 90mm stem
My Vassago Verhauen is a small and has 23.6" top tube, Fits well with an 80mm stem
My SC 5010 is a large and has a 24.'" top tube. I use a 50 mm stem.

I demoed a 2018 Anthem 29 and it was strange. The "Small" had me a very good comfort level from the seat to the bars. 23" top tube. Bars felt too wide, but I could get used to it. However the seat post was too short to get me full extension. I needed to try the the medium, but that was out. The medium has 24" top tube and I really don't want to use a 50mm stem on it. I bet I could get a 60mm, but I am a little concerned that it won't put enough weight on the front end for cornering. My 5010 is my downhill type bike so a longer TT there is good for downhill stability.

I did like the bike, but really need to check fit on a medium. The small was too small due to seatpost extension, but was otherwise good, but I am worried the medium may feel too big.

OP, at 5'9 you are borderline on a small. I think M would be perfect if you usually like bigger frames.
