New question here. 14'-16' Trance 1x11 conversion Thread (help/suggestions appreciated)

i'm going to be sourcing parts to convert my 2015 trance 2 (currently 1x10) which shifts like %[email protected]#!!! to 1x11

    parts list (subject to change):

Shifters: XTR M9000 11 speed shifter
    R. Derail: XT M8000 medium cage
    Cassette: XT 11-42
Chain: XT (although everyone recommends using Sram chains for 1x11)
Crankset: here is where i need your help SLX 1x11 m7000? or Sram?

after a quick google search i have found that giant used theses crankset for their 1x11 through 14'-16' Trance's (same frames geo)

    2014/15 Trance, Adv. 0 : SRAM XX1, 32T
    2015 Trance Adv. 1 : SRAM X01, 32T
    2016 Trance 1: SRAM X1, 32
    2016 Trance Adv. 1 : SHIMANO XT, 32
    2016 Trance Adv. 0: SRAM XX1 Carbon, 32

i read that Sram uses a 48mm chainline and shimano xt/xtr uses a 50mm with the exception of SLX 49mm

1 obviously works better than the other on 14-16 frames, which one is it?

i want to hear from the guy's/girls that have converted to 1x11 what they used? are you having back pedaling issues?

which crankset/chainline works best for our 14-16 frames?

    thank you!

since you need to buy everything new from scratch I recommend you getting a Sram GX Eagle 1x12 setup. That's what I ride right now on my Trance SX after having ridden the stock Sram X1 1x11 setup for 2.5 years.

The extended range and the ability to run a 32T chainring are worth the additional $ over a 1x11 GX group, the frame works much better with the 32T than it did with the 30T before.

    You need

    GXP pressfit bottom bracket
GXP Sram GX Eagle crankset (no boost!)
GX Eagle group (derailleur, chain, cassette, shifter)

wouldn't that require a XD compatibtle hub?
i just spend $600 on a new DT Swiss EX511 build (shimano freehub)
so i think i'm stuck at 11 speed for now

crank options seems to be Sram GX 1000 (49mm chain-line) or SLX m7000 (49mm chain-line)

i have preferred Sram shifters/derailleurs in the past, but i thought i would give shimano another shot. also the Sram X1/X01 combo seems a little pricier than the equivalent XT/XTR combo

I got a similar wheelset for my Trance with DT 350 hubs and the freehub can be changed without tools in a matter of seconds

if you're eyeballing XTR components a new freehub shouldn't be an issue

my rear hub is an OEM Intense/hadley (no idea about the model) so i have no idea if it can be switched to XD

i just sent a message to Hadley inquiring about the possibility of an XD conversion

    Hey guy's

got the XTR shifters, XT Der.

seems like sram is only offering 49mm chainline crankset now.... so whats the point
the SLX chainling is 48.8mm what are you thoughts?
