    06 Reign rear suspension upgrade

    Hey guys,

I'm thinking of going to a bigger suspension on my 06 Reign. However it seems as though I'm limited as far as what I can acutally fit in the opening my Fox RP23 is in now. I want to go to a coil, maybe a DHX 3 or something along those lines.

Anyone know if it will fit? It seems as though the Reign X frame is a little different, and that opening for the rear shock is bigger.

Send your rp23 to Push Industries. Then can add some extra travel and tweak the valving to your liking.

Bummer. What about air? Would the DHX air fit in the rear?

No piggyback shocks fit that frame.

sending it to push is a good idea but there is a big problem associated with it. I can't ride my bike for a week or two while its out.

Gosh, I'm second guessing upgrading this bike anymore. I was gonna buy a new fork too, but I don't know if its even worth it really.

is the opening in the downtube too narrow for an avalanche with remote res?

yup, i believe the opening is 46mm from left to right. The outer diameter on the avalanche spring is 2.5" so it will not work.

the DHX coil with remote reservior is made for Tuner DHR and has a eye to eye of i believe 9.5"

    A couple of questions:

    1) Making the reservoir remote obviously changes the volume of air in the reservoir. Does this have any impact on the shock's operation?

    2) Mikey and I were looking at our bikes (I'm on a Reign X1) last night (we ride together fairly regularly) and were thinking it may be possible to mount a DHX coil with the reservoir on the bottom, facing forward. He'd have to fashion a new shock guard, but it may work. The width is the only thing we were unsure of since we didn't disassemble either bike or measure shock/opening widths. Anybody think this would work? Or do you know if a coil-over will fit *width*-wise in the Reign shock hole?

I think it's a waste of time messing with it - just ride it. or get a new frame that suits your needs?
