New question here. We need your opinion for our upcoming safety gadget for cyclists

    Dear cyclists,

We are a small company based in UK working on a safety gadget for bicycles with several functions. It is the only fully open source one, including hardware designs, in the market.

We have prepared a small survey to know the opinion of potential users about the most important capabilities it offers: https://goo.gl/forms/C2YhBFtMv3DQ0c2V2

That will require just a couple of minutes of your time and you will have the chance to win a CycloShield Nano when the device hits the market next Christmas.

If you have any questions you can ask us here on mtbr

Best wishes from the CycloShield Team

Mods/Admin, please feel free to move this post to the relevant sub if General Discussion is not the right one

Perhaps more relevant to road cyclists that spend much more time exposed to road traffic hazards. Most on here spend most of their time on trails in the wilderness where this thing is irrelevant.

More roadie oriented but seems to be a cool gadget.

Safety devices are no substitute for properly designed roads. See dutch junction, where drivers don't have to check their blind spots for cyclists. Drivers don't use excuses like "I didn't see the cyclist", when the cyclist is crossing in front of them, where the cyclist can see the driver in front of them too. Cars being in a cyclist's blindspot is worse than us being in theirs. People need to use mirrors or something.

These new gadgets just seem geared towards getting compensation in courts, in an inevitable "accident" with something that can easily crush a human with minimal effort. I'm pretty reluctant to accept designs that add inconvenience for the primary purpose of pleasing the lawyers.
