    For the love of Carbon!

    Show me your gaggle of carbon bikes.

    Yes, I want the bike horders to post up their hord of carbon bikes.

    Here's mine,

    Over the years i'm ammased a carbon bike for each family member and 2 for me! oh yeah.....

    I'll try, but one if mine is not together.
    Here's a non-visual list, and current status

    1996 Trek Y33 - retired due to separation of the shock mount. Replaced under warranty nearly 20 years later!

    1996 Trek 5500 - retired due to better sized bike

    2015 Trek Remedy 9.8 - frame retired due to crack, warranted by Trek

    2015 Trek Remedy 9.9 - frame replacement for the 9.8 - still in service, current main mountain ride.

    2015 KTM Scarp Prestige - 2 frames destroyed, but one is on the way back at this moment from being repaired. Still my current XC ride.

    2015 Trek Madone 7 - frame retired due to crack, warranted by Trek with the next bike -

    2018 Trek Emonda SLR, replacement frame to the Madone. Current road ride.

    2019 Ibis Hakka MX. Current gravel/CX bike.

    And then, on top if that - I have a Rainsong Carbon fiber acoustic guitar!

    I love carbon myself!

    Yes, yes there is! Interestingly enough, the old Y and the 5500 are the ONLY carbon frames I never broke. Beat the ever loving snot out of that Y bike. The failure wasn't with the carbon, but the connection of the aluminum mount to the carbon, which was epoxied in place.

    I swear the old carbon stuff was more durable. It was much more overbuilt I think. Carbon tech wasn't as good (depending on your point of view) and so I think they way overbuild carbon bikes. I think that is starting to come back too, as you hear people saying how a carbon frame isn't that much lighter than an aluminum frame anymore.

    I also broke my 2008 Fuel EX9, which was aluminum, and cracked my 2015 Trek Farley 8 (aluminum) but those aren't carbon, so I didn't mention them.

    I am surprised Trek even sells me bikes anymore.....

    Tom, I want more photos' and close ups of that deviate bike. In looks insane, How does it ride?

    PS please vissually abcost me with photos if possible! i need to see the carbon.

    As i said, I'm having some carbon cranks made up, to increase the q factor and drop weight off the arms, will post pics when they arrive, but follow Carbon wasp on insta for who is doing them.

    Rides amazingly well, I'm coming back from injury at the moment but have ridden it enough for first impressions. It monsters though rock gardens, my local trail centre has a 200 metre stretch and it rolls through like its nothing. It's great in corners, having the weight very low down makes it very stable, especially in slop. climbing isn't a strong suit, but thats not what its for, you turn the pedals, it goes up. it isn't light, mine is 36ish pounds as pictured, but trickstuff brakes (due may) and the cranks will drop that down. Hilariously, stock builds are 33-34lbs.
    Grip shift is hateful, waiting on Cinq trigger shifters, they should be here next month.

    Keep an eye on Deviates insta for their next project, a shorter travel 29er...
