    How are riser bars measured?

Let's say we have a 1" riser bar. Where is the 1" measured from? Is it from middle of stem clamp to the very end of the bar? Or is the measurement taken from the stem clamp to the bend in the bars?

I guess what I'm really asking is whether the upsweep of the bar is figured into the rise?

They are typically measured from the center of the bar at the stem clamp area to the center of the bar at the bend before they start sweeping up. So a 1" rise bar may measure 1.5" center of the stem to the center of the bar at the grip.
