How Do I Install SRAM XX1 on Trek Remedy 8?

Having performed the obligatory search, I have yet to find a clear explanation of how one adapts Trek's BB90 to accommodate either SRAM's BB30 or GXP, which are two factory options on the XX1 crankset.

My bike is a 2012 Trek Remedy 8. It is stock, so I know I've got to replace the rear hub with an XD compatible one.

    Thanks!

You need the GXP crankset. You will need the Trek BB for GXP.

Make sure you research this - makes a difference if it's BB90 or BB95. The Enduro page has a warning:
FRAMES THIS KIT WILL NOT FIT:
--Trek mountain frames with BB90 bottom bracket shells.
(Top Fuel Carbon and Hardtail Carbon)

    Slash5,

I thought that's what I was doing by asking here?

Does anyone know what the 2012 Trek Remedy 8 FRAME'S Bottom Bracket Shell spec is?

It's not press fit like the carbon versions, it's threaded.

    If it's threaded then it's not BB90 or BB95.

okaaaaay... I thought Trek's mtb standard was BB95? And has been for years?

And that BB90 was a recent addition to their carbon frames?

my bottom bracket shell is most certainly threaded... so what the heck does that mean?

If it's a threaded bottom bracket shell then it sounds like you need one of these, along with a GXP SRAM XX1 chainset.

Truvativ GXP Team Bottom Bracket BSA English threads 68 / 73 mm.

Buy a GXP XX1 crankset and it will come with the correct BB.

According to the tech guy at The Trek Store:

"The 2012 Remedy 8 has a BB51 Hollowtech II" bracket shell spec.

So yeah, never woulda guessed that.

The SRAM GXP bottom bracket linked above will definitely work in that frame then. If you get one included with the cranks it should be an easy install.
