    do flat pedal pins have similar shoe sole penetration as traditional pedals?

    Do flat pedal pins have similar shoe sole penetration as traditional metal mtb pedals? For example, these would be traditional mtb pedals:

    No, much better.

    The pedals you linked to are quite poor. They'll grip ok-ish on Wellington boots or other shoes with tractor-tyre soles but normal trainers or cycling shoes will skite off them, especially in the wet. They're one up from plastic pedals, just.

    On decent pedals the pins sink into the sole of the shoe and grip really well. You'd be surprised how well. They are well worth getting, and don't skimp on the shoes.
