apparently the guy has a lifetime ban for doping, so I guess still gotta get some thrills somehow.

If you slow down the video, or just been on roads like that, there are Raised Pavement Parkers. Basically these little reflectors that help in case of fog, or if the paint has faded on the roads.

Don't know about you, but pretty sure I don't want to drill a little raised chunk of road doing 100km/h with a 23c tire...

The name of the video will change to "Guy gets a flat and skids on his face for 400m before coming to a stop!"

91% of cycling deaths happen to helmetless riders.
Lazy drafting bastard, take your turn at the front, pull the truck for a while.

Reckon if he comes off the lack of a helmet will be the least of the worries he has during the last three-seconds of his life.

I am very "pro-helmet," but I sometimes understand the reasoning people give for not wearing them. Case and point, if you get hit by a truck? Helmet isn't going to do jack. Skull will be intact, the rest of your body will be hamburger. Hit a tree/wall/rear end going 30+mph? Skull will be intact, but likely to break your neck killing you.

Basically said, a majority of accidents that are likely to be fatal, will still be fatal regardless of a helmet. What a helmet does save you from is low speed accidents where you may bounce around or tumble into curbs.

I think the greater issue is that helmet-less riders tend to have a greater disregard for consequences. Ride faster, take more risks, do more crazy stunts. Most of the fatalities of helmetless riders, a helmet would not have saved them. The helmeted riders would have likely not even been in the situation to begin with. So was it the helmet that saved them? or the greater sense of self preservation?

(Road sport bikes with a full face helmet for 5-6 yrs, and won't even ride my mtn/road bike around the neighborhood without a helmet anymore. I also ski with helmets. Very pro helmet, but I won't be that guy who walks around preaching "you need a helmet or you will die!" like many others.)

I'm assuming he knew the truck driver, but I can't even count how many things could have gone wrong there.
    Thrill-a-minute for sure.

In my mind, Risk vs Reward, so not worth it. Hope they really enjoyed it.

Lack of helmet aside, if it's an actual pace car/truck it's really not all that dangerous IMO.

I question whether they really hit 124kph though, I don't know their gearing but they would have to spin over 200rpm with a 53/11 to achieve that.

I think "Free Ride" Bobby Root got 86 mph rear wheelie record. I saw a MTB Bill video where he claims to have pedaled to speed with a 58 chainring, but guiness says he got to speed by assist from a vehicle.

He's got a cycling cap with the flip up bill so I wouldn't worry, he knows what he is doing.
