    Bash Guard

Anybody using a Bash Guard and how do you choose the size. I have a 32t middle and i never use my large chain ring. Are there any hints on what to get.
    thanks

It's a pretty standard item that will be just a little bigger than your middle ring. You want to match the BCD to your crank spider, typically 104, which is the distance between the bolt holes, and it will also tell you the maximum middle ring size it will work for.

You just take off the outer ring and replace it with the bash guard. Then start clearing logs and roll overs better.
Use it, use it, use it while you still have it.

Or if you are unable to remove the big ring like some older XTRs. Just grind the teeth off the big ring and it acts as a bash guard.

I put a new crank on recently and left the big ring on it. I've used my it about once every month, going to replace with a bash gaurd. So much better striking deadfall or a rock on bashbuard.

gonna second DIRTJUNKIE,'s and Gasp4Air's suggestions - lose the big ring and then find a bash you like and that fits..
I use a Gamut P30 Bashguard - Gamut USA Store
then as the others said get out there and use it!

the Gamut isn't sized other than P30 for 3xT rings..
max I would guess to be 36T but it works for 32/34

I have about a 1/1.5cm of radius difference between my middle 32T ring and the bash guard though, whatever that means

No reason to get a 36t unless you plan on running a 36t in the future. Go to BBG and get a 32t bashguard for $18 delivered.

Yup, got bbg on both bikes, great stuff. If you have a 32t ring that is what size bash you need

The only thing you may run into with a 36t bash and a 32t middle ring is a situation where the chain rubs against the bash guard when you are in the middle ring and use the smallest cogs. This happened to me with a 36t Truvativ bash guard. It probably depends on the particular bash guard.
15mm is a second-best solution to a problem that was already solved.

    +1 for BBG
This is on a 3X9 - took off the big ring and replaced with bash. BBG website has the options or you can call them for info.

    Thanks for following up Steve,

I just ordered a black oval 32T for my Giant Talon 29er 0 (32T) as well.

Run a 34 spot brand on my Jamis F/S, a 34 BBG on my Klein, and my Race Face Evolve XC SS crankset came with a 34 bashguard. I just took the big rings off and replaced with the BG's. My middle rings and my SS are 32's but I like the little extra clearance the 34 BG's give me.
