    29 - Option or Improvement?

Seems like more and more people are switching over to 29ers. Also seems that manufacturers are placing most their focus on the 29er platform. Do you think that 29 wheels are an improvement to the hobby that will eventually become a standard, or do you think that 29 wheels are just an option that seems more popular but will never replace the 26?

A little search of the forums will reveal all you ever wanted to know about the 29er debate in multiple threads.
It's such a fine line between idiocy and genius.

I think 29ers take a half hour off your ride times, regardless of how far you go.
No, YOU don't understand. You're making an ass of yourself for all of eternity.

Ah, that explains it. For example, this past weekend, I met a guy on a 29er and he insisted I try it. I only planned on riding it for a minute in the parking area. As soon as I clipped in, BAM! I was sitting in the passenger seat of my buddy's van 28 minutes away from arriving at the trail.

Yeah, that is why 36ers will rule once tires are available. Instant 36 minute advantage.
