26er Chinese Carbon Build with Rigid Fork

    Hi all.

I have an aging Merida 26er with a full suspension frame, something like an old 26er Specialized Epic frame (Merida owns 49% of Specialized AFAIK, so the comparison is not to far out there). It's a 2008 frame and these days the frame creaks with every pedal stroke I take. I want the rigidity of a hardtail and I also want to extend the lifespan of my current components.

My question is, has anyone ever seen one of these: 26ER Full Carbon 3k Matt Mountain Bike MTB Frame BB30 + Fork + seatpost 19" built up before?

The rigid forks are also an interesting idea, especially as I am not planning on any huge impacts, mainly commuting on bike paths and light cross country/bike path rides for XC marathon distances.

Anyone got any thoughts on or experience in building up these Chinese carbon frames?

I've heard only good things from people who have them, and negative things from people who don't.. So yeah, that's all I know.

There's a long thread in the 29er forum about the frames ,you might want to look at.

I just built up an fr 201, i love it. Word of caution though, the fork that came with mine from some ebay store had a messed up post mount surface for the brake rendering it useless. Kind of a pain but Fly Xi sent me a new one for 110 bucks. So i would not search ebay for the cheapest setup, rather spend a little more and go through the company, better quality control.

Thanks for the replies. I probably actually created a duplicate thread here (even if it was about the Chinese carbon 26er frame with rigid forks that I haven't seen discussed yet). I will keep doing research into it.
