New question here. 19' Trek Rosco 8 or the Trek Stache 5

Looking to purchase a new mountain bike. Currently, have a 97' Specialized Ground Control FSR. I'm debating purchasing either a 19' Trek Rosco 8 or the Trek Stache 5. I'm looking in the price range of those two rides. I live in the relatively flat land of northern Illinois and don't plan on any major trips with the bike to go riding. Also looking at the Stache 7, but the price is a little more than I want to spend. Just looking for some advice or riders experience with either platform. They are both mid-fat which is what I'm looking for since I'm replacing the FSR.

    Thanks!

I like the fork and drivetrain better on the Roscoe and think it's an overall better value. For the tight, twisty, up and down trails in my area the smaller wheel size is better too. Other areas, where you can get up to speed and stay at speed a little better, I'd rather have the Stache.

I have a 2018 Stache 7. It is an amazing bike. It is a paradox, stable but nimble as a ballerina. I'm blown away every time I ride it. It handles tight technical turns with ease and goes over chunk like you are riding on pillows.
    Get the Stache.
Change begins by doing something different.

Trek store managers only may negotiate on bikes, especially 2018s. Up to 30% or so off around Labor Day. 20 off now. Only speak to a manager about price. You may need to try a half dozen before you find one who'll work with you to get a deal done. Cash is best with 60% down no refund at order. Go for the Stache.
