Survey of Mechanical Trail, Head Angle, and Rear Wheel Trail -- Post up what you like

    Hey Guys,

I'm hoping those of you who know what type of numbers you are running will post them up. Hopefully this will be a bit of an informal survey and it will be useful for builders researching geometry. Here is the loose format for what I was thinking.

    Rear Wheel Trail: 1075mm
    Mechanical Trail: 61mm
    Head Angle: 72 deg
Intended use: General purpose monster cross
    Riding Impressions: not built yet

Add some more information if you want...

BB drop: 50 mm (for use with 200mm cranks)
Seat Tube Center to Top: 64.5 cm
    Top Tube Angle: 9 deg
Assumed Wheel Diamter: 720 mm for calculations

These are just some sample numbers I've been playing with in BikeCAD for a new MX frame. Its still a work in progress. I'm curious to see what people are running and why they like it.

Given, this is a pretty radical simplification of handling but taking full account of the linearized dynamics equations for bike motion isn't something easily documented.
See this PDF http://www.tudelft.nl/live/pagina.js...lePaperv45.pdf if your curious to read about the current state of the art rigid body equations for motion of a bike.
