stainless and cast dropouts, can they be TIG welded to 4130?

I was looking at slider dropouts and they all seem to be either stainless or cast mild steel, can these be TIG welded to a 4130 tube? If not, are there other options out there besides what Nova and Paragon have to offer?

They can be TIG welded to 4130 with the proper filler rod.

I've used surly track dropouts that appear to be cast and they weld fine, so a mild steel one would be ok cast or not?

If I don't make an attempt, how will I know if it will work?

I suspect the original question came from the fact that cast IRON is not practically weldable in most situations, due to the high carbon content. Cast steel can certainly be made weldable.

When we say cast, we are actually meaning Forged.
