    Galled Bottom Bracket Shell

As the title suggests, I have a galled bottom bracket shell. The bike is my son's and I want to keep it going.

He is using a PF30 to Shimano HT BB that has cups that screw together in the center of the BB shell. The BB could be turned by hand while the cups were screwed.

Thinking of using an adhesive. I want one that"s strong, but I may want to get this BB off the bike again. So I don't want too strong.

    And suggestions?

    Thanks.

If it's spinning in the BB shell, it doesn't sound like the insert is tightened down all the way. I'd take it apart, clean it up, and try to re-install it. And maybe throw some carbon seatpost paste in there to provide some bite.

If that doesn't work, I'd permantly adhere that threaded insert into the PF shell. It sounds like the PF shell is warped already. Probably not going to be able to use it down the road anyway.

Thanks Watts. My problem is definately the latter, and my guess is that your recommendation of permanently affixing is my only option.

If that's the case, I'd also add some set screws, kinda like an elliptical bottom bracket for singlespeed bikes. High strength epoxy and a set screw, that BB ain't going nowhere.
