La Sal Peak - Mullet ?

I'm one year in on my La Sal peak and love it ! I went with the Fox 36 and Float X2 and am very happy with this setup. I just put new one-up carbon riser bars with a 35 mm rise and cush core inserts front and rear (we have some really sharp roots and rocks out here and I like to run fairly low pressures)

I want to go mullet to sharpen up the turning speed, give myself some more space to get over the back end - I also feel like dropping the rear will get me more "into" the bike. I'll still run the 29 rear - but I think the mullet would add another option to an already excellent bike.

I saw some posts on people with 27.5 plus rear wheels - but has anyone set this up with a standard 27.5 rear wheel ? (I don't want a 27.5+ rear - will run a 2.4/2.5 rear tire). I'm also dropping my cranks to 165 from 175 to reduce pedal strikes - Am doing this regardless of whether I convert to Mullet.

Here's the bike in Snowmass, CO (I live in Breckenridge)

    Cheers,

    Sean

I bet It'll be stupid fun for going downhill and park days, will probably be stupid for XC rides. My mullet rig is 27.5+ rear, but I actually have a hard time calling the Maxxis Minnion 2.8 a plus tire. Its so damn undersized is looks like a modern 2.6 on 30 mm rim.

That being said, I roasted that minion last weekend and had to go to a backup tire, a much much larger tire Purgatory grid 3.0 - fits fine, can't go bigger, and have had the best rides yet on this thing.

Mullet setup 27.5 non plus will be a jumping carving machine.
I would advise not taking my advice.

Thanks for the reply - did you flip the chip to high ? I was hoping to ride it low if possible.

I got a great deal on a crank brothers alloy rear wheel today - so I pulled the trigger on the Mullet - getting stoked for it !
