    Mike, a couple of questions, how tall is your wife and what size frame is she on? I'm on the hunt for a fat bike for my bride and fit/standover is a big issue...

    Unfortunately, it doesn't look anything like that out my window! But yeah, great time to be out there.

    You.

    "...deliciously overpowering stench of decaying organic matter" that is "bouquet" to this southern boy's nose. The stench is the explosion of Rabbit Brush flowering from the all the recent rains. Who would have thought that a flower could smell like a 2 week old dirty diaper?
    Its beautiful out there and I hope to get up to Turkey Flats this weekend.

    In my parts, I love the changing aromas along the trails.

    In the springtime, one of the first strong aromas after the thaw is when the worms emerge. Mmmm, earthy worminess. Usually it's too wet to ride, so we try to get some trail work done. As it dries and the trees begin to leaf out, the sycamores begin to cast their unique smells about. They are most noticeable when it's hot and humid, but I usually smell these trees before I see them. The sycamore smell is pretty consistent all season, because it doesn't come from flowers. Sickly sweet invasive honeysuckle peaks in the spring. Late summer meadows have a wonderful aroma, a true bouquet of all of the species of wildflowers along with a pungent smell coming from grasses and other plants drying in the sun. As fall rolls around, the earthy smell of leaf drop, with undertones of wetness permeates the forest. I love how the smell changes with moisture levels. Dry leaves smell so much different from wet ones. Still earthy, but much sharper, and as you ride over them and pulverize them into the trail, you kick up leaf dust that tickles your nose.

    Ahh, fall. You make me appreciate hot drinks so much more. I might start carrying a backpacking stove as it gets colder so I can make up some hot drinks. Either coffee, or some hot cider, or some tea. Mmmmmm.

    Hey, Skipper.
    The girlfriend is 5' 7". Standover is not an issue (usually ever).... I believe the frame is a medium -- but I could be wrong. I usually ride a small or medium, depending on the geo/type of riding I do.

    Thanks, I want to get my wife out riding some more and fat bikes on the beach might be just the ticket, She's 5'7"-8" ish but she's not real keen on those top tubes that get close (My jones bike be one of them).

    Do you have an recommendations on saddles?

    Saddle: right now my favorite saddle is a Specialized Jett 143. Don't know why, but it's the only one working for me right now (which isn't the one I have on the snow pony -- but soon).;

    This is a must have for me in the shoulder months. An alchy stove with just enough fuel for 12ozs and a Fosters beer can pot with lip guard. The silent creaking, steam and anticipation are therapeutic.

    The advantage to living in Florida is that I can ride in all four seasons*. The disadvantage is that our trails are not always super awesome.

    Great video and post. When my new fat bike gets here and built up I plan to ride the hell out of it until I can no longer smell the deliciously overpowering stench of decaying organic matter in the woods.

    * - Rainy, Summer, Hurricane** and the week we call Winter.
    ** - Not always the whole season.
    Flotilla or Buffet.
