    Where in NYS Hudson Valley?

I went over to Mohonk Preserve last Sunday and was nixed on using their groomed trails with my fat bike. It was a long drive south from Columbia County for a big disappointment. Looking for suggestions on good trails to use my fatbike in Hudson Valley area.

Hey George, I have a bunch of friends/athletes that live down in that area. I am going to reach out to them and see what their thoughts/recommendations are for that area. I love those trails. I'll post back here if I find anything else out!

If you're in the Northern part of Columbia County, add Grafton State Park to your ride list. They have a good trail map online, so you shouldn't get lost.

Nixed by whom? Was some written policy produced?

Are the running trails there snowshoed enough to make for good fattie riding? I race it as a Du in the spring in the American Zofingen race. It would be a pretty good climb with some great downhills.

It's been a couple years now and I don't know their current policy, but in the past I have brought a bike in winter to mohonk and nearby minnewaska and been booted out, they're probably worried about someone sliding off the cliffsides. But IMO I see no more (or even less) danger than cross country skiing which is allowed. Nearby stewart forest usually has well packed trails from tons of snowmobile traffic. With over 5000 acres, even if the singletrack snow is not rideable you're guaranteed to get some riding in. When in doubt about conditions this is my default destination. I should follow Steve at Revolution Cycles and try to meet them or follow his recommendations for the best riding. Lake Taghkanic looks like a cool new destination, despite being a longer ride for me.
tolerance is a skill I haven't mastered yet
