What bottom bracket do the Mongoose steel bikes take (Malus, Dolomite)

I've seen recommendations for replacements, but not what style/type of BB these bikes take.
I'm a Clydesdale so square taper cranks get destroyed quickly. I want to upgrade to something beefy (suggestions welcome), but I don't know much about fatties and don't what options I have.

    Thanks for your input.

    Answer:

Its a 111mm shell, so standard fat bike bottom brackets won't work.
All I could find is square taper BB's in 111mm also.

This has been discussed at great length in the dolomite thread. Basically, only option is to stick with the stock axle with the YST bearing upgrade, or go all in on a multi-hundred dollar super wide crankset designed for a fatbike with 190 rear axle. there unfortunately is no happy medium.

Well that's the problem, I bought a race face crank set with a 100mm BB and it didn't fit. I read that Dolomite thread but couldn't find the info I needed.

As someone who bought a Mongoose beast many years ago, I can say with certainty and experience, enjoy riding it in stock form and if you decided you want something better, buy a better bike and DON'T try and upgrade it.

This. I ended up selling mine. The dolomite was a fun bike, and let me know that it was worth it for me to get a good fatbike. Minor updates to the stock bike are ok, but there are limitations on "cheap" upgrades. Once those limitations are found, its a loosing battle to upgrade. A $250 crankset on a $200 bike is a bit crazy.

Well I was just using it for a BMX bike to ride with my kid (which was a bad idea when I realized it had square taper cranks). But then I trashed the cranks, so I was in a tight spot. I thought I might run some nice cranks and just keep it as a BMX'er, but they didn't fit so I ordered some generic 3 ring MTB square taper cranks and the YST cup set. Its operational again, but I'm putting it up for sale before I ruin something else..
