Trans Am Bike Race on a Fatty?

I've been watching dots and even rode short distances with some of the riders of the TABR recently and it got me having thoughts of riding the TABR on the fat bike. Is there anyone else who would consider trimming the fat some, putting on some 3.8 road tires, and riding from Oregon to Virginia?

If the route was like 1/3 paved, 1/3 gravel, 1/3 dirt-sand, I'd say Why Not? These are 3.5 Vee Speedsters and I'll be riding this in the STP.

What would be the benefit, as you see it?
