Wink Tire Wear/Life winter fat bike commuting.

Loving the fat bike, I am using mine to commute to work this winter.
I commute all year, and usually go threw 2 rear tires on my cross bike, i like to run a knobbie tire.

I know this is a loaded question though, dependant on my tire.
I have jumbo jim 4.8's, but i guess i could ask the question....

what can i expect for tire life on a 4.8" knobbie tire? pressured down for good traction on snow and gravel.

half my commute is on concrete at the moment, though it seems to be becoming less with the more permenent patches of snow and ice.

I know its going to sting when i have to buy new tires for this bike

My winter snow biking rides usually involve climbing 11 miles on pavement to get to the snow trails. Once there, I'll air down to only a few pounds for a day of riding, then pump my tires up for the return trip home. My Bud & Lou tires began to crack apart around the knobs and casing after several thousand miles of doing this, there was still around 2/3 of the tread left. I'm less than 150 lbs FWIW.

The Schwalbe Racing Ralphs I run on my 29er offer fantastic performance, but wear much faster than anything else I ride. My guess is the Jumbo Jims will have similar durability.

I get about 1500 moles out of a set of tires before I replace them. I've got anywhere to a 6-20 mile ride to my local trails.
