    Suspension Winter maintenance

    Hi there,

What about hardtail and fully maintanence in winter (riding on snow, salt on roads etc.). Does the fully/Hardtail suspension need lots of treatment?

I don't want my future fattie to "suffer in the cold"

My bike only sees trail use so no road riding or any of the hazards that comes with it.

Having said that the only maintenance I do during the winter is keeping the drive train clean and lubed, the bike is transported inside so no worries about road salt being sprayed to the bike and any snow caught around the frame and fork will eventually melt during transport.

I actually try to keep my bike cold all Winter and just knock off the ice chunks. Lube the chain. If we get a warm spell, I will probably wash it to get the salt off of it.

Prob'ly more importantly is that, in anticipation of Winter, I have already sealed up my hubs, bottom bracket, headset, seat tube, cables, and headtube with grease. That holds pretty well until Spring. I have not had any suspension problems.
Dang - that reminds me I need to do the pedals.
