    Surly Crankset Weights?

    Does anyone know accurate weights

for the Surly Mr Whirly (+spindle)
    the Surly OD cranksets

-without any BB, or rings, or adapter spiders(whirly)

I'm having a hard time determining the weights, since even if catalog specs can be trusted as accurate, often times its listing full weight with rings, etc attached. Which makes comparison null.

I suspect the OD is lighter, since it has an integrated spindle instead of a removable one; on the other hand, it does have spider arms on it....

I'm aware that they have different features; those features are irrelevant since I'd be using only a single ring on the 58 BCD. Hence my disregard for the default rings and spider adapters... and interest in just straight crankset weights.

No idea on the Mr. Whirly, but my old OD was a heavy sucker. With 2 rings and the BB, it came in at around 900g.

Yep. And I just made mine a little heavier. I changed my worn out aluminum 33 tooth ring to stainless.

If I happen to have mine off the bike for any reason any time soon, I'll weigh it.

I have both. My first Pugs is a custom build and has the Mr Whirly, and my second Pugs was a SS that came with the OD.
From visual inspection, it looks like the arms of the Mr Whirly may have a bit more metal on them (by weight), but I'm not certain.
I prefer the OD, since its easier to use larger rings (no adapter spider required).
