    Surly 1x1 Fat Bike

Here is a 1x1 with 24x4" Chao Yangs (this is the only model of 4" tire that will fit on a 1x1) on Large Marge Rims. You have to put the axle all the way back in the drops. If you have an anniversary 1x1, and you want to push the wheel forward to use the larger chain ring, then you should trim the corner knobs. Schwalbe just came out with the first bicycle tread cutting tool. I forget how much clearance there is between the stays and the tires but it is like 4mm on either side of the tire. So you might need to keep your rim true to prevent rubbing. But a 24x4" 1x1 is a real thing! I am selling this bike on ebay Surly 1x1 11 Rat Ride Anniversary Edition | eBay. I was going to use this 1x1 as a 24x4" fat bike, but I am going to turn the new Troll into a 24x4" fat bike instead as I have an extra 24" Large Marge Wheel set.

I attached pictures of the bike with the 24x4" tires on Large Marges. I attached a couple of clearance pictures. It is hard to take clearance pictures, especially when there is not much (again about 4mm on either side). But again a 24x4" 1x1 is totally doable!

Well done. I take it that that tyre is the same as the Fat B Nimble? (apart from size)
As little bike as possible, as silent as possible.

Where did you find the tires? My kid has one but I couldn't find anything to replace the slicks.....

What's the distance between the dropout and the widest point on the tire?

(ie: what would I have to measure, from the dropout towards the bb, on my Surly Instigator 2.0?) Tire measures approximately 100mm on the 65mm rim?
I like 'em long, low, slack and playful

This is the same tire as the Panaracer Fat B Nimble, but in 24" variety. I got them from Framed Bikes. Hokie there is already someone on one of the forums running these tires on an Instigator 2.

Did you manage to fit the 24x4 into the Troll frame? Did you use a <2017 or >2017 Troll (the 2017 has a driveside-yoked chainstay and I think different crimps on the tubes, so possibly quite different clearance than the old ones, and at different wheel positions?)

I'm very keen to hear about your progress-- planning to do the same thing

I have a new model 1x1 and the Chao Yang don't fit on 58mm rims. They aren't even close.. Now I'm looking for an old-school geo 1x1 instead of my brand new one...
