    Smallest Tube for a 26 x 4 tire

    Can I get away with a 26x2.4 tube in a 26 x 4 tire? I've seen people running 2.4 - 2.7 tubes, but the I have a tube that's labeled just 26 x 2.4.

I've use 26x2.7 HD tubes from MEC with a short life, the valve tears out of the tube. Had better luck with Maxxis DH tubes 26x2.5 - 2.7" but they are just as heavy as 26x4.0 tubes.Vee Rubber is making a light fat tube.
It doesn't matter what I ride as long as I ride it Rubber Side Down●~●.

I found new thin tubes (~26x2.1 - 26x2.5) to be fine, until you have to patch them. Then the tube stretches too much and the patches don't hold. The thicker DH tubes I've tried didn't do this.

    Q-tubes 2.75s, never a problem. I've run them at 2psi in 4.6 Wazia's on snow.

Have had good results with Schwalbe SV13F in winter/summer use where flatting is not going to be an issue (packed trails, etc.) At 185-200g per it was worth the risk for me.

I have used both Schwalbe SV13F and Onza 26 x 2.2-2.5 Freeride tubes. The latter are labeled 26 x 2.2-2.5 and the largest tire I have used them with were BFL's on 82 mm rims. I had a few flats with both, and patching was never an issue.
