    Sale ?

Is there a particular time of the year that fat bike manufacturers run sales? I'm in the market, but not in a hurry.

Summer is when I saw some leftovers on sale but it wasn't any different than the sales you get from last years models. Those were shop sales and not manufacturer sales.

Surly put most of their line on sale 3 weeks ago and is sold out from what I told by my LBS.

Depending on budget, as the snow is flying now, I'd buy something today, rather than saving a couple hundred bucks waiting for it to go on sale next fall/later summer.
it's a challenge some of us are ultimately worthy of.

If they don't sell by spring time you can pick one off at your leisure. I got a Felt DD 30 left over from last winter at the end of October for a pretty good discount. It was late enough that I was able to verify that the specs for this year's model is essentially identical, so what I bought didn't instantly become obsolete.

On One Fatty rolling chassis is around $820 on Planet X right now. Alloy frame, steel fork, wheelset, headset, tubes and your choice of a few different tire options.

I went and spoke with 2 Specialized dealers today. Both had the dealer version of the email that I had but neither had a sale price list or any details. I told both that it sure wasn't a way to promote their product and neither was surprised. I was told that Monday a call will be placed to the rep to get some answers.
