    New wheels for Lenz Fatillac

I have a Lenz Fatillac with 26" wheels running 4NRTH VANHELGA 4" tires. I need to get new tires and was thinking about the Vanhelga's again but the version they're selling now are 4.2" and I'm not sure they would fit. Any recommendations? Anyone try this already?

i have two Fatillacs, and used to run 26x4 VH. I switched over to 27.5x4 before the new VH came out, so i cannot comment directly.

Look at your bike, how much clearance do you have? My guess is it will fit.

You were able to fit 27.5x4? I'm surprised. I looked at the clearance with my 26 x 4 and there does not seem to be much. I do have mud flaps though so maybe they take a little space.

FYI, depending on which fatillac CS you have, most will fit a majority of the 27.5x4 tires, pretty much everything except the VH and Dillinger 4.

My green Fatillac has an adjustable CS, so it will fit a 29x4 if they ever come out with it...

Chainstay is the measurement from the center of the crank to the center of the rear axle.

My brown Fatillac has a chainstay measurement of 422mm, and fits every 27.5x4 tire except for the ones from 45nrth.

dseltz, take a few hour drive... We can throw my wheels on your bike and you can see if they fit.

My CS is 422 also. We'll I'll have to see if I want to build new wheels (27.5). What tires are you running on your 27.5 rims?
Actually I'm from NY so do head out there occasionally but not lately.

I have or have had every 27.5x4 tire out there. Ran them on 27.5x50, 27.5x65 and 27.5x70 rims. All of them fit the 422 CS Fatillac, EXCEPT for the 45nrth 27.5x4 tires.

I can imagine the issue with 45Nrth. The VH's I have are first gen that were discontinued and became vaporware for a short period of time. There is a major difference in volume with the VH vs. Maxxis FBR 3.8's. Funny as it may be, my VH's have 3.8 molded into the sides and 4.0 printed in white ink/paint on em too.

Did you ride the Maxxis FBRs? What did you think? I'm also considering alternatives to the VanHelgas.

By the way, what hubs did you use with your 27.5" wheels?

I do use em. Must admit, the VH's feel far better. Weight is similar between the FBR and VH. VH has a major increase in volume over FBR.

Hope Pro 4 super boost rear, boost front in orange. I really enjoy color.

I have had a bunch of FBF/FBR's. Sidewall is awesome. Tread compound sucks, well, for around here it does. deathly scary on wet rock/root/snow. I put a patch on it, and "fixed" the issue by siping them. Still not a vanhelga tho...

Some of the earliest Fatillacs were 26" only. 27.5 x fat hadn't really taken off yet when those were made.

Bontrager Hodag's are the most underrated tire out there. Not for everyone nor every trail condition (what one tire truly is?) but really, really good most places.
