New Bike Day!!! 2018 Trek Farley Ex

Iím on cloud nine! Only had time for a quick pedal around the block but I loved how it felt. Tomorrow will be the maiden voyage. Iíve changed the pedals to match color, lol, but only plan to upgrade the grips for now.

i will be ridding my trail that I have really only ridden on a GBMC hardtail, so the full squish should be a cool feeling / difference! Iíll report back

So took it out on a trail Iím building which has about 1,500í of climbing and quite a few flowy DH sections. It also has quite a few rough patches that I am working on. Here are my thoughts from the maiden voyage:

    - 27.5 x 3.8 rolls everything and just wants to build speed.
    - Sharp switchbacks takes a slightly larger turning radius
    - This thing smooths the trail out like butter. So frickin nice!
    - Itís a lot more sprightly then I expected. I was popping off some small bumps and catching solid air. Enjoyed that ALOT!
    - Itís not as lowly geared as my other two bikes so time to bring the power on the punchy climbs. Not significantly but noticeable.
    - 1x is super sweet from a simplicity perspective
    - Full squish definitely chews up some of your power on shock bob with hills. I could lock out but my goal is to minimize stopping / distractions. Once again, not heinous just noticeable from my hardtail.

Overall I enjoyed the new ride a lot! Itís different but in a good way IMO. I definitely see this being the overall faster of my two fatties (GBMComp vs Farley Ex 8).

    Super fun bike.
The only thing stock on mine is the frame.
    Biggest improvement is lighter wheels.
I also run it 29+ most of the time.
