    My new Mukluk

Pretty standard save the color. I like orange, particularly metal flaky orange!

BFL's on drilled RD's, 2x8 drive train with Sram/Paul thumbies and Origin 8 cranks, Salsa cockpit, XO brakes, and Revelate kit. Should be a good one. Some spec may change come actual snow, (brakes,) and pogies will go on when it gets cold enough.

Edit, sorry for the turned photo, not sure why that happened, will fix tomorrow.

    Thanks for the compliments.

The pedals are from VP. This is a powder coat job. It's bright orange with a gold metal flake clear.

I'm going to try and make it to some of the WI stuff. Many are hard because they are on Saturdays, the worst day for me to take off.

That looks sweet! How is the chain line? That looks like a 9-speed cassette, can you use all of the gears when in granny gear?

I'm thinking of running the same setup (already have the frame and Origin 8 cranks en route), but am thinking of going with 100mm rims. I'm hoping I only have to drop a couple gears in back when I set it up...

    Awesome looking bike!

This is set up with 8 gears of a 10 speed cassette. The chainline is acceptable, and there is about 6mm or clearance between the tire and the chain. I have a 2.5 mm spacer behind the driveside BB cup that I might actually remove. I'm not sure it's needed, and the chainline would be better with it out.

What BB and size rings did you go with?

The color and the way you built it up looks awskome!

Origin 8 cranks are ISIS interface, so he used an ISIS BB which means either the FSA or TruVativ ones everyone uses for ISIS based snow bike cranks.

I'm pretty sure Ben mentioned to me that he's spinning a 32 X 22. That's the same I'll be using on my Origin 8 crank set up as well.

GT's got it. FSA platinum pro BB, spacer behind the driveside cup, and 32-22 gearing.

Really sweet. Makes me want to just go ahead and switch my Muk3 over to BFLs and the crankset/cassette arrangement you have, and get on with it. Really great color - reminds me of a Colnago I owned back in 1978. Did you have the paint done locally?

The powder coating place I used in located in Savage, MN. SE Custom Powder Coating, 952-890-7373. Great work, reasonably done.

    Looooove the color.

Nice touch on the seat post too. I have seat post envy. Serious seat post envy. It's always something.

I tried the VPP pedals you're rocking, and I wasn't too happy with them. The center of the spindle, where the ball of your foot is, has no traction...and I would find that my narrow feet wouldn't always engage enough of the pins on the outside of the pedal to feel secure. You may want to put some traction tape on there before you get 'em too muddy. I switched to a set of Vaults at the suggestion of Hand of Midas, and they are great.

The orange looks awesome--any reason you didn't go matching on the rim strip?

kencamp, great looking bike! I have Pogies to match your seat!

    Thanks for the comments.

lawfarm, I like the fact that these are less grippy than some pedals. They are a great width to work with my Lakes, and I can get taller replacement pins if I need more traction. Time will tell though, as we've of course not had super sloppy weather yet. I like the black rims as it adds a bit of subtlety to the build. I wanted the frame to be the flashy part.
