Mukluk triple crankset and other questions! Advice?

Might be a dumb question but what kind of cranksets can be used on the 2011 Mukluk? it comes with a ISIS bottom bracket, does that mean you have to stay with that type?
Any suggestions on what to use that is lighter weight? What kind of derailer?

Also not really fond of the twist grip shifters and was wondering about options. What type of shifters can be used with the Pauls Thumbies? Do they have some that show what gear you're in?

I'd like to try to lighten it up a bit, is it worth drilling the rims? Running Hookworms for the time being and lighter tubes. Was also thinking of getting a set of 29er rims for it. Any suggestions or cost ideas!

Sorry for all the questions but still learning the bike world, always had offroad motorcycles before now. Thanks for any and all help, it's appreciated!

This will answer most of your questions:
Building From A Mukluk Frameset | Salsa Cycles

Shifter type is personal preference, and they must be compatible with your drivetrain.

The trouble with common sense is it is no longer common

I'm onto my 2nd ISIS BB on my Mukluk 1 and will need another replacement this summer.

From Salsa's website and the new Mukluk, it comes with these.

    Crankset E-13 for 100mm BB, XS, SM = 170mm, MD, LG, XL = 175mm

    And
Bottom Bracket E-13 30mm External Bearing

    with a
    Chainring E-13, 22-32-44T

Will these fit the Mukluk 1 as well?

    Yes it will fit.

The 2012 Mukluk 2 came with the e.13 snowbike crankset just as you listed.

The 2012 Mukluk 3 came with a Howitzer BB, not an ISIS, close but not the same and a Hussefelt crank.

Seems like everyone using the new FSA Fatback crankset is happy with its performance. It is cheaper and apparently has a wider chain-line than the e.13. The x-type bottom bracket would be easier to replace & or maintain.

If you were to stick with ISIS there was this thread (championed by the mtbr member "lamard"):
